I'm finally getting around to working on the radio. It's been years since it worked. When I turn it on, no sound, no nothing. On the yellow/black/gray connector, I have no power on the yellow wire (radio fuse is good) with the key on. If I remove the yellow wire and replace it with a fused jumper, I get a slight thump noise and the speaker cones move outward, which I believe is correct. Does the yellow power wire come directly from the fuse panel? It appears to do so looking at the wiring diagram. I'll need to send it out for repairs anyways since the station pointer does not move when using the pushbuttons.

Yellow = Keyed 12v+
Black = Ground
Grey = 12v+ for radio dial light
I would look farther up the harness if you do not have 12+ at the yellow in the black connector that plugs into the radio. I have found several cars with prior modifications that someone cut that wire to get power for an aftermarket radio.
If you like to fix things, the dial isn't that hard to fix. Take the front of the radio off. there it a small string that loops around to make the red dial indicator move. Take note how it is hooked up. I used braided fishing line to make a new loop.
If you get the power to the radio make sure your speakers are working. If they are also 52 years old, they need to be replaced anyway. Check for proper grounding at the antenna. There should be a grounding plate. Check the coax for proper continuity on the ground and center wire front to back. I had all of these issues and now have a working original radio.
