back panel on the 68 thru 75 corvette , question

Default back panel on the 68 thru 75 corvette , question

hey friends can anyone tell me if that back panel you flip up to put the convertible down in are they the same from 68 to 75 ? thanks Bill

According to my P&A, the 68 (P/N 3936364) is different from the 69-72 (P/N 3966610).

As my P&A is dated July 74, don’t know if the 73-75’s are the same as the 69-72s.

According to my 1975 AIM, the rear deck lid part number is 396610 as well

68 doesn’t have aligning pins in the front corners nor any way to mount them. 69-75 does, thus the part number change.

I think the difference is in the middle of the rear bottom rail of the 69-75 had a mounting bolt that the 68 didn't

Only if it was equipped with a hardtop. Softtop only didn’t have that hole. And that began mid-69.

ok guys all the numbers I found on this deck is where the pin goes thru and here are the numbers! (3942775) and 3942776) is there somewhere else there would be any part numbers?thanks Bill

can someone tell me where the part number is on the rear deck on the C3 convertibles ,these numbers is where the pins are 3942775 and 3942776 ,I cant find it thanks Bill

Bill,

The numbers you see molded in the fiberglass are the part numbers for the individual pieces that make up the rear lid. The rear lid assembly as a whole wouldn't have a part number on it. Early 68 lids didn't have bumpers on the bottom of the lids, later ones did. I'm sure there are other minor difference between the years, but I far as I know they are all functionally interchangeable.
