I have an '80 that is giving me fits on the turn signals - I replaced the actual blinker itself but it's still causing me problems. When I turn on the left blinker, the left front blinker flashes and both brake lights flash (albeit the left is brighter than the right). When I turn on the right blinker, the left front blink flashes (yes, left) and both brake lights flash (with the right being brighter than the left). I had initially changed all the bulbs to LED but went back to OEM. I need help.....
Sounds like you have a questionable ground somewhere causing the electricity in the blinker circuit to find another path to ground through the brake lights. Grab a schematic if you can and make sure the blinkers have a clean dedicated ground path.
