Yep, converting a 76 into chrome bumper car..this is a base care with just enough comfort options that makes it a perfect candidate for it..

Have a look, there is a lot going on in that photo if you tap on it and zoom in.

Cut a couple of two by fours to the correct length and wedge them from #4 body mounts to ground once it is sitting in place.

Are you doing a whole nose or converting your 76 nose?

This was my throw them on to see if possible 1st version. You need to fab or cut from a GLASS bumper the center piece and a 3 or 4 inch wide section on each side. Then the curvature on bottom where the hockey sticks are closer to 90 degree angles has to be messed with. You can not do front bumper conversion without REAL bumpers. Bumpers bumperettes, hockey sticks. 69 grilles are 100 bucks a set. 70-72 are a million bucks each piece. Brackets can be fabbed and 76 air tank can be used. We are not, after all tryna fool a Bloomington or ncrs judge. Doorgunner’s thread has a bunch of good and needed measurements in it for doing the rear bumper.

Doorgunners thread. Jump to page 97. Post 1934 or so. He had to cut his glassed-on rear off. We will be starting be unbolting the bumper cover. But overall distances from door openings will still be accurate.

There is a 73 back there, usable front clip.

The 76 front end was busted up pretty bad.

My plan is removing the whole deck panel from the b pillar back and replacing it with a duck tailed one...as it always seems to go with these, the 73 parts car back there in the pic, that I WAS going to use for said deck, is just too much of a wrecked mess, (bubba used aluminum siding under there!) so I bought another OEM duck tail deck.

The 73 has perfect candidate bumpers and taillight panel. I know that I will have to fab and modify the bumper brackets.

Gonna be using wire mesh for ALL openings, and the side pipe covers. I have worked with a lot in my job as a fabricator.

And, after reading Priyas thread, if the quarters of the 76 are just too much of a mismatch for me, I'll use the quarters of the 73, if they are good enough.

Lots of ifs.

Here is a concept rendering I had commissioned.

A medium dark grey, red interior, gloss black bumpers and trim including the wire mesh, and stock size and offset Magnum 500s.

I'm getting rid of the license plate area in the front though, looking like this.

dtamustang AKA Don Anderson's front end conversion is almost EXACTLY how I want mine. It's gorgeous! Also saves a pretty penny on stock grilles and trim.
