Default Headers/side pipes for 76

Before I even ask for help, I have read the threads and posts and other sites for info. I would like headers and side pipes for my 76 L-48. I have the stock 350 with a mild cam (I think), dual exhaust and FiTech EFI. My head is swimming at the moment. I have AC and an upgraded Borgeson steering gear. I would like the ceramic coated pipes, and I would like them to fit without chopping into the rocker panels or cutting stuff up. Is there a set out there that will fit without chopping **** up, moving a mount or brace or anything else that will cause grief? I would also prefer not to dent them up in order to fit around another part, but might consider that if it was the only way to make them work. Thanks, I'm mechanically challenged and a Vette rookie.

Any header MIGHT need to be dented to prevent interference. Side mount headers MIGHT need the rocker panel to be trimmed and denting. My Hookers needed both but I also have AFR heads with raised exhaust ports. That said, its a hit and miss if yours would need any modifications to fit correctly. I didn't mind because you can't see the dented tubes and the rocker panel trimming is barely noticeable.

I installed the Hookers on my 78'. I guess I was lucky, everything fit with no mods. I didn't have to cut the rocker panel either. I loved them, had to install heat shields because the wife got "branded" on her leg while exiting once. They get HOT.

Yep, the heat shields would be a must. I actually like the look of them with the STINGRAY embossed in them.

Even GM cut the rocker panels on the line for the install of their side pipes. The alteration is minimal and would be covered by the rocker covers if you wanted to go back. Ike

This is what I put on my 76 with sidepipes from Patriot to follow. No modifications are necessary and regular plugs are used as well as the original starter.

Doug’s Headers ceramic coated side pipe headers fit on my 71 without any issues. No banging or swearing. Very straightforward. I needed to modify one cylinder pipe when covering to rack and pinion but had no issue installing the headers with the original power steering.

I had Hookers on my 75 a long time ago, they fit pretty good with out mods, they lasted 4 years with the Chicago salt and ended up on the stock car. all in all very happy with them.

That is really nice looking. The car is not too bad either.

Hey Duke, sorry to revive an older thread but those look great. Did they fit with a Borgeson steering box installed? I have the rams horn with the original side pipes but they are looking rough and want to open up my 355ci. The hookers with side pipes seem to be my best option for fitment and performance. Thanks!
