I had just turned 23 and a neighborhood friend just hired on with my company. We were running cable at the main Telco office in downtown Tampa, and while shooting the breeze, he was upset that gas was going up to 50 cents a gallon, and along with the upcoming gas lines he wanted to sell his white 1969 L46 4 speed coupe. My ears perked up so I asked him how much....he replied, $2,800. I test drove it after work and bought it the next day. My fellow workers couldn't believe that I would pay that much for a used 5 year old Chevrolet. It was trouble free for 2 years, sold it in 1975 for $3,400 and bought my '71 LS5 Convertible for $4,500. Again, fellow workers thought I paid way too much for a used 4 year old Chevrolet.

Not really, I just liked the '71 styling...but I still like the 350/350 performance. Like I always say, if I could go back to Nov. 1975, I would go down to the Chevy dealer and buy me a brand new one of these:
