I have a 4L60E transmission from a 94 Corvette that I would like to put in my 81. After reading that these transmissions were identical to 700R4s, except electrically driven, I made the mistake of thinking it would mount like a 700R4. However, this transmission has no provision for a standard rear mount. It just has the connection to a C-Beam (which I didn't even know existed until today) :| My question is, knowing I have to have VSS for the stand-alone transmission computer, what would be the easiest way to install this transmission in an 81? I know Shiftworks sells a tailhouse kit. But $600 is a lot more than I would like to pay if I can avoid it.

since the 82 had the 700r4,,,,,,,
81 computer, if you are running it will lock up the converter I believe.
I think I read a 4l60e has been put in a c3.
FWIW,
I put a 4L75E ( similar) transmission in my 69. Had to shorten the drive line and add an adapter plate to bolt it to my crossmember.
My 69 is an original automatic car. Cost was very reasonable for the adapter plate. If memory servers under 100 bucks.
I'm sure a google search will find similar swaps to yours and likely provide part list too!
