Default Flowmadter mufflers

Hello all,
I’m going to have flowmaster mufflers installed on my 1980 corvette. They seem to have many different types. I don’t want it to sound like those dumb butt cans do on the imports! Any advice on which style/ type of Flowmasters that will sound good? Thanks

My son had 2.5" inlet and 2.5" outlet Flowmaster 40's put on a 350 ci / 350 Hp 1969 Coupe and they sounded great. They had a nice deep rich sound at idle. Only downside to them was a drone hum sound inside the car at certain speeds but that was easy to fix by just speeding up or slowing down a couple of Mph.

I have some video clips of his car at idle with the Flowmaster 40's running if you want to shoot me a private message with your email address. Then, you can hear them for yourself if that helps at all.

I run Flowmaster 40s on almost everything I own. They sound amazing

There are better mufflers out there that flow better and can make a little more HP, but I'll sacrifice a little on a street car for that sound.

Flowmaster American Thunder 40 is what I ran on my previous Mustang, T/A, and both Camaros I owned. Might have to pick up a pair for my C3.

Wanted to add I also had the Flowmaster Outlaw system on my last Mustang 5.0, it was too loud and drone was difficult to get past.

Go with the American Thunder mufflers (commonly referred to as Flowmaster 40's)

I had a set on my '55 Chevy and still have a set on my Van, and for me, they're too quiet, although they have a nice resonance at about 2300 rpm. On both vehicles I installed a set of electric cutouts and they sounded best when cracked partially open, kinda like glass packs. So of course on my C3 I have glass packs asa "resonators".

I had 50's on my Corvette before I installed side pipes. They had a nice DEEP tone but without the nasty resonance that the 40's are known for. We put them on my Father in Laws 1970 big block Charger and they sounded great on that as well.
