The 77 t-tops should be the ones with front and rear latched while your 80 will only have the single latch at the front and pin at the rear. You need a set of 78-82 tops
(also there was something weird about the 77 latches compared to the 68-76 but I can't recall what)

Yes, for people new to Corvettes it's hard to realize that they did many different version over the span of life of the C3! Only when you get into them do you realize that many parts that appear to be the same have differences that affect their application. I have an early '76 and the differences in E vs. L 76's is something that you find out when you just buy parts without the realization that when in the '76 model year they were produced. It's a learning experience! Thank goodness for the Corvette Forum and the information available here. And, then you realize why a lot of times it's best to ask first or search first before buying parts.
