Door Adjustment
Push the door closed (rather than slamming it) and watch out by the striker pin/latch
If it doesn't move up/down at the striker pin when latching, see how hard you need to push for it close the second latch, if it's really hard then the striker pin may need to be moved outwards a little but keep in mind this can affect the flushness of the door on the outside but frequently if the weatherstrip is too stiff it doesn't want to compress that last little bit it needs for the door to latch
Watch the door just before it hits the latch and see if it is lifting as it goes onto the striker pin.
If it is, hold it just open enough to be able to see the hinge pins and have someone gently raise/lower the rear of the door and see if the pins/bushings are worn and need replacing.
If it does lift but the pin/bushings seem tight, the hinge needs to be adjusted on the car side where it bolts to the door jam.
Except for moving the latch pin out, all of the above are a bit of a PIA
M
- Do you have new weatherstripping, door panels, etc?
- When the doors are open to varying degrees, is there any play in the hinges when you lift up on the latch end? (worn hinge bushing and pin)
- When the doors latch, do they appear to lift into the latch?
