Default Al Knoch driver lower Dash Panel issues

I just received my $405 Driver lower dash pad from Al Knoch, and there are a few irregularities, mainly on the tachometer (LH side in the pic below).

1. What in the Hell is that rectangle cut-out below the tach? It is an A/C car but my old dash pad didn't have this. I don't see it in my Vette Vues gact book or Restoration Guide
2. My lower connection plate now has nothing to screw in to due to the rectangle. It is about 2" to the Left from my other dash pad
3. Where does the check valve mount to? See last 2 pics

Check valve mounting locafion. Doesn't look anything like the AIM.

Check valve mounting locafion on tach.

Can't answer about the first 2 but the tach solenoid goes on the two screws there on the lower plate

You have ordered or received the wrong dash pad. Early cars did not have the AC knee vent. My 74 had the knee vent but I'm not sure when they started using it.

Thanks Mooser. I finally figured it out. I guess the AIM is to be used only as a reference as to where parts go 😆

I had a lot of fit problems with my AL Knoch interior parts. He also sent me the wrong driver side panel like the one you got. So he offered to recover my original lower dash panels and my original upper dash panel. Contact Isreal and ask him if he will do this for you. It's been hard for them to find good employees lately and the quality shows.

Are you placing your orders on line or actually calling them on the phone.
I order by phone only and deal only with Melanie.
She has been there forever and knows their parts.
On one of my first orders I spoke with another person who had to call out to production to ask them so many questions the order took forever.
I called back to check on my order a couple weeks later and Melanie found the person I talked with ordered the wrong year parts for two things in my order.
As we were going over my order she knew all my parts should be for only a 73 and recognized that the two part numbers on the order were for a later year.
She corrected my order and apologized for the issue and any delay.
So far everything I have received from Al Knoch has been perfect.
I’m currently waiting on my new carpet and a few other items that will be the last items I need to completely replace all my original interior.
As stated above they lost many of their good quality employees and are having problems finding good replacements.
Seems they are in the same boat as most manufacturers throughout the country.

I had ordered most of the interior parts thru Al Knoch (thru separate orders). The carpet, floor mats, shifter console were perfect. The storage compartment (complete) showed up broken; it was pretty flimsy with the doors already attached apparently.
I ordered a center storage tray but received the jack storage tray, which is OK because what I received is twice as much as the one I had ordered.

I'm going to call them shortly because apparently they don't respond to emails and post the outcome on here. Wish me luck!

I called and talked to Phillip (he said Melanie and Israel were unavailable). They are going to send me a prepaid shipping label to return the incorrect parts and then they will get me the correct parts shipped out.
I told him since I had waited 5 weeks or so on the lower dash, it would be wise to go ahead and put it on order, in which he said "Oh, yeah, I guess that makes sense".

I am soooo screwed.

(I ordered the correct parts the 1st time around.)

Day #2 and still no word from Phillip. I called back and talked to Melanie this time thank God! She is the shizz-nit!!

She is going to send a label in a few hours and get my replacement dash on Priority order. I even told her that she was highly recommended on this forum; she thought it was funny.

UPDATE: A few back and forth phone calls with Melanie @ Al Knoch and all is well. The disconnect on THEIR end was when I said my car was a 1972 w/ AC. Their records show that EVERY AC car from 70-76 has the rectangle notch, instead of the 74-76 models.

She said she went down to talk to Al Knoch's son and he informed her that ALL 70-76 AC cars have this notch. I wasn't going to argue, so I just said "no AC" for my car. They are going to swap it out for me at no cost.
But everything I have says their info is incorrect.

On a side note, I ordered a set of new seat back vinyl and she went ahead and gave me the 15% off code that doesn't kick in until Dec 1. Cha-Ching!!
