I use an ABC and I have 2 in my car. I would suggest getting the biggest one you can fit in your car reasonably. I have the 2.5 lb ones. If you car is on fire its most likely going to be under the hood and if 2 car sized extinguishers cant do it...move a safe distance away. It wont blow up but it will be hot and no place to be. I keep one on a quick disconnect mount next to me so I can reach it easily, the other is behind the seats so the passenger will be looking for that one.
That element 50 is pretty cool. Slim enough you don't have to open the hood just poke it in after popping it but not opening it. Small and compact and light, I like it. Currently I carry both an ABC and a purple K extinguisher.
One thing I don't like about the element 50 is if re-ignition occurs then you have no way of continuing to control the fire. Regular extinguisher you would still have product to use most likely after putting the fire out initially.
All the videos they show only demonstrate it's ability to interrupt the fire. Not scenarios where heat is still great enough to cause re-ignition. In an under hood fire scenario I would say if it's gone on for any length of time re-ignition is definitely a possibility.
Thanks folks.
Here in Europe, they're 1kg, which is about 2.3 lbs. I think I'll go for one on each side in the Vette, and one in the Triumph, and one in the garage.
