I bought a new RH rear shock mount. The old one was damaged when I removed it.
The left one is just fine no damage at all (I already blasted and painted it).
Now I'm looking at them side by side... they seem not exactly the same.
Will this be a problem?
Is this the new and old one, both RH, you have in your picture? There is a right and left. They are not the same so they will not look identical when looking at them side by side.

He is probably talking about the angle of the lower part of the casting.
It definately causes the bottom of the shock to be offset.

Looking at your new one the shafts are a few degrees from a true 90,
That would be correct.
Your original, to me looks closer to a true 90 and not correct.
If anything your original might put a little more load on the lower shock rubber bushing but that would be it.
I think it will be fine.
If you look in the Corvette Parts And Illustration Catalog it will give you 2 different numbers. LH 3829265 & RH 3829266
The only real difference between RH & LH is the machined alignment flat.
I bet if you turn your original over you might see the part number, the letters showing on your photo are the date code. I see a H (= August) so a real early 77 or real late 77

Not to confuse the OP...
In 77 the suspension package option was FE7.
The shaft was the same for any 77.
No optional part numbers given for standard or FE7 in the AIM.
My count of the part number being superseded is at least 3 times from 8-76 to 6-82.

Good catch bmotojoe - my P&A only goes to 75 and the OP, profile shows he’s got a 77. Now I am wondering what the difference is between the 3829265/266 and the 3820929/930s?

I'm not 100% sure there is any difference in these parts other then superseding part number changes over the years...
The AIM drawing below was first approved on 2/17/76.
On 11/11/76 3 revisions were made, Cam #3, Bolt #4 & Shaft #5.
The revision(s) reflects the new part numbers upper right parts list.
So the OP may see #3829265/266 or #3820929/930 or what the 77 AIM says 458977/778 on his originals...
