Default C3 Tank Sticker

My 1972 is mostly original with newer paint (previous owner). My question is, I looked for the tank sticker today and found it. Seems to be very brittle. Should I leave just leave it there? Is there a benefit of having it in hand?

Thanks

Steve

You will get many different answers. In my book, to have the information from it is important, especially on a pretty original car. Options are;
Remove it carefully and clean it carefully.
Clean it carefully and take pics and leave it.
Clean it carefully, take pics, and use an archival type plastic to cover and preserve it.

I would recommend either the first or third. It appears that some of it is already gone, and that will continue unless intentionally interrupted.

Take down the tank and take pictures or video the process. Use a very soft make up brush to gently remove the dust. Then take pictures of it cleaned off and then try to remove. The other option is to remove the tank and preserve it on the tank and put in a new tank.

Nice find. Whatever you decide, keep in mind it's the only original you'll ever have. It will be fragile.

If it were me I’d remove the tank carefully and preserve the entire until, tank with paper attached.

Its the best way to preserve the document keeping it the most intact.

Replacing the tank is easy after that.
