Recently purchased ‘74 corvette. Previous owner replaced a head lamp and now the front indicators and corresponding dash lights flash continuously when car is on.
removing the new lamp does not stop the flashing so it seems like something has shorted.
Any advice or previous experience with this issue is greatly appreciated
Check to make sure the Emergency Button/**** is not broken or engaged. Mine is on the right side of the steering column (not sure about the '76 design.
If the E-button/**** seems to be working correctly......remove the Turn Signal flasher to see if the lights work correctly.
IF they still keep flashing, then remove the Emergency flasher to see if the lights act correctly.
Let us know what happens.
O.K. What's odd here in trouble shooting this sight unseen is that the front signals and the indicators are flashing, but Not the rear???
This makes it a real interesting issue.
Yes, check the 4 way flasher switch first. pull the 4 way flasher can second. If it's still doing it pull the turn signal flasher.
But why are the rear signals which should be wired in not flashing??
Sounds like you have more than one problem.
Take one at a time.
What happens when you activate the turn signal switch? Do the rear signals work then?
There's a similar thread on the C1/C2 forum - turned out the breaker in a new switch was tripping due to poor alignment/quality – might the switch be new too? If not, carefully examine the headlamp wiring harness to ensure there's no pinch or oddity.

Thanks to everyone for the helpful responses. I’ll have a look into a few of these suggestions. Merry Christmas!
