Excecutive summary: what might "K0911T5A" stamped into the block's stamp pad mean?
So, I'm wanting to buy what LOOKS like a nice '71 LT-1 (VIN 194371S118002) and I can see from one of the very few pictures that the tach' has a redline of 6500 rpm (COOL!!), but the info' in the advert is limited...and the car is 2 countRies away, in France. (I don't speak French)
Seller finally responded to one of my several questions. First he admits that he cannot guarantee that "it" (the car or the engine?) is a real LT-1. And then goes on to show how it almost certainly is not by revealing that the stamp pad code is K0911T5A. WTF is that??? He says, and I agree, that the casting number of 3970010 is a good sign, but that hardly makes it anything special.
I caught that, too (https://nastyz28.com/chevy-engine-code-stampings.php is a godsend), presumably built on the 11th of September (during what year - who knows? The seller didn't provide any year of manufacture for the block). But I wasn't sure. Thanks.
But I am wondering if the -T5A suffix provides any information as to what that block was made for.
Thanks, again,
Steve, in the NLs (having a hard time finding an affordable 'vette worth having in this part of Europe...)
1984 Truck Engine. Good chance it has a 4 bolt main. This is a replacement engine so you should not pay LT-1 prices for the car.
Looks nice from here.
Agreed. I don't really want to build up an engine. Although MAYBE, it already has been since it does have a nice looking (powder coated, ceramic coated?) set of headers on it.
Still waiting to hear something about the frame, bird cage, etc., but I won't be paying (European) "LT-1 prices for the car."
Thanks a bunch!

Hi Steve - Good luck! From a distance the intake manifold looks as it might be correct. There should be, at the very least, holes to the driver's side of the radiator where the transistorized ignition amplifier should be. These were failure prone. There should be only one fuel line from tank to fuel pump. The half shaft ujoints should be attached with caps and bolts, not U bolts. No time right now for pictures, but you can find them here and there on forum. If you search 'Plastic Pig' you'll find pictures of mine in various states of undress which may show some of what I mention.
Coodemorka (as best as I can remember, spelling very phonetic!

Goede morgen Dirty Dalton! That phonetic spelling is funny cuz it's not far off. I'm an American, so I can laugh at it, too!
Right, I have a long list of differences about LT-1, but all I have to go on from the (ok, he's French) seller is those few pics in the advert. I've asked for more, but it's not looking good...
I, too, have been trying to make out if that's a "snowflake" of the Winters intake manifold. Still, a couple wonderful guys from this forum have already ID'd the block as that from a 1984 truck, so...bummer that.
Interesting to me that you say those transistor ignition amps were prone to failure - good to know!
I'll take a peak at "Plastic Pig"
Thanks!

Thanks!
Hi PJO,
Can you tell me how you found that information - that the code KO911T5A (or K0911T5A) belongs to a "1984 Truck Engine 350 155HP 4 Barrel"?
I'm not doubting you for a second! I just want to be able to show the source to the seller.
THANKS (again),
Steve, in the NLs
Thank you sooo much PJO!!
That's a really good resource when trying to NOT get ripped off by all these sellers hoping that you don't notice the discrepancies...
Cheers!
