Default Play in window crank handle

Hello all. I have replaced the window crank handle along with the regulator shaft and backplate. With all these parts replaced, I still have slop between the shaft spline and handle. It's better than it was before, but there is still a noticeable amount of play between the handle and the shaft splines. Is this play between parts considered normal as is? Thanks.

Corvette Ben chalks this up to poor China made examples. The splines are only half of the amount of depth as a stock one. Try to find one used

This is exactly the problem and with the crank handle made of cheap pot metal, I don’t expect this part to have much of a service life.

The slot where the clip goes in is usually not in far enough as well so the handle has a little more gap to the door panel too. Same with the lock ***** (the older ones down on the arm rest) that use that same spline and clip set up
The originals have the slit cast slightly below the outer edge of the handle where the repops have it cut in so it's actually slightly outside of the edge

Yes and that very well contributes to the looseness as well. As far the lock ****, I replaced it last year and it snugged up okay. The window crank is disappointing.
Thanks Mooser.

Edited: Forman, yes I forgot to mention the bushing was replaced along with the spring washer.
