Default '69 driver's door VIN decal

Should all 1969 model year C3s have the "MFD BY GENERAL MOTORS CORP" vehicle certification label?
Or was it only after a certain date? (e.g.1969 build cars)

Cheers,
Brian

Hi Brian, It was definitely after a certain date in 1969. I want to say around October 1969 but I could be wrong. My 1 ( previous) owner 69 built early August 69 does not have it.

Thanks for the input. My December '69 build car has it and I was just wondering if they all did.

Also assuming this was a government mandated thing rather than something GM decided to do on their own?

Hi Brian,
According to the NCRS 5th Edition book, p.42 it states, "Beginning September 1, 1969 a blue Vehicle Certification Label is added to the upper rear of the driver's door". And "yes" - government safety related. NCRS book goes on to state that the blue label was added to show that the vehicle met safety standards in effect on the date of manufacture.
