Looking for a good set of seat belts for my 72. My original re-tractors are gone rusted beyond repair and one shoulder belt is torn completely in half. Not concerned about originality, just a set that the shoulder belts work.
So far I bought a set of the economy (have seven panel webbing) ones from one of the major corvette parts vendors I think they all come from the same builder.. (Not concerned about the buckle button as mine originals are good)
Issue is the re-tractors on both the L&R shoulder belts are junk just don't work will not pull out but about 5 times out of 50 pulls. . The premium belts are twice as much and the only difference is 3 panel webbing same re-tractors.
On my '72, the shoulder retractors/webbing were fine. The lap belt retractors however had rust. Years ago, repos were not available.
So I sent my lap belts to Snake-Oyl and they replaced the retractors with new, used new webbing, restitched the original labels onto the webbing and kept the original hardware.
You might give them a try and see how their prices stack up against the repops of today.

Try Charlie Santorelli, Seatbelt Sity. 1-908-625-2299 maybe able to help.
I called Charlie a couple of months ago.
He gave me a quote of $1,500.00 to $2,000.00.
He also told me he wasn't going to be doing belts much longer.
Snake Oyl said they would need my old belts before they would give me a quote, but their starting price would be around $750.00.

WOW So as this is going to be a driver not sure I want to spend them kind of $$. I'll do what I have to on the lap belts for now. The buckles cleaned up nice and no one will see whats under the seat!
I feel the same way.
I was thinking about sending my originals to Snake Oyl and if their quote is to much I was just going to purchase the premium ones from Corvette Central or even just install some 4 point restraints.
