Tach issue on my 1981
On my 1981, I replaced my intake manifold and had my carburetor rebuilt and now have a tach issue.
The car runs great but when my tach gets to 3,000 rpms, the tech gets all wonky and the tach starts bouncing all over.
Figuring that since a lot of wires were pulled, maybe something isn’t plugged in correctly.

Where might I look?
Any ideas?

The tach expects a nich clean square wave form based on RPM signal from the distributor . I am guessing there is now noise on the signal wire.
Do you still have the tach filter installed ?

If the tach filter is still installed try running without. Also check connections to confirm clean connections.

The filter is still installed and connected.
When you say run without, do I just unplug it or run a wire to bypass it?

It may not reach as required so use a jump wire.

Found the problem.
Yes. Found it. I bypass the filter and the problem goes away. I'll order one today.
Thanks for all your help.
