After a few weeks of buying my 1981 corvette, and finding out about my new ride and this computer carburetor, and it is bone stock, other than a previous owner replaced the tail pipes and put some type big square mufflers at the back,I think it says vortex,so assuming a different style cherrybomb.lol....but they sound good, I was going to leave it this way, although the old saying you’re only original One time, and I do appreciate originality, but I Ain’t.lol.....digging several things about it other than not having no power, the start up of it idling wide open can’t be good for the motor, especially when it’s cold,so,a few things I want to do,is get rid of the computer,so what effect will it have if I just unplugged it.
The 81 computer system is really crude system . If you just unplug the carb or the computer the system will go into full rich, limp home mode. To delete the entire computer control system you must swap out the distributor and carb to pre 1980. The lack of power is the smog engine design no carb will fix that.

the computer is not making it run 2200rpm at cold/choke on,,,,, the factory choke settings are.
You can drop that setting to 1200-1500rpm like most vettes.
I also adjusted the electric choke to min time by drilling rivets and replacing with screws.
Me and a friend replaced my plugs and wires Wednesday,I took the plastic ignition coil cover off,and didn’t put it back on,the cap was visible, and it hit me when I saw the wing nut on the side, and had a ground wire connected to it,so didn’t think it would solve my issue, but put the cover back on,and hooked the ground on and put the wing nut back on ,fired it up,and didn’t idle high none,so the ground wire does something.
The ground wire to the plastic shield with a layer of foil on the inside?
Mine has been off for years and it does not
affect anything but radio noise, if that.
edit, the wire is in the loom the choke wire is in so moving it around affected the wire to the choke.
