Default Refurbished carburetor

I found this place and that’s all they do is refurbished all the top brand carburetors, Holley,QJ,rodchester and many more, and they are 100-125 dollars cheaper, $300 for refurbished and 425 for new, this place is National Carburetors and I read they get a lot of returned carburetors because of what ever reason, they didn’t like the way it looked or whatever reason. Is it worth it?

How many times do we have to tell you. If you want to make power out of your 81. Find a earlier good used unmolested Q jet and send it to Lars. You keep saying but you don't want down time on your 40 year old car. Give it up! it's 40 years old. You are going to have down time from time to time! If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right!
If you keep insisting on cutting corners. Why do you ask us ?

Before I learned from Lars about "rebuilt carburetors" I had purchased a quadrajet from National Carburetors which is 30 minutes up the road from me. When it didn't run right I took the top off and here's what I found. Primary jets: 72 and 75 and primary metering rods 68 and 64. Secondary metering rods read DP/EF. The power piston spring was very stiff. It's obvious that this carburetor was put together out of a box of assorted parts from different carburetors. I got my money back because I beat on Randy's desk (president) and told him what a piece of crap this carburetor was.

+1 for Lars

Turned the original carb that had the bubba treatment into a perfectly setup and tuned carb.
Well worth the money for a correctly rebuilt carb that gets run on his test engine. Communication includes pictures from the setup on his engine showing all the proper settings. Not sure if your proposed guy goes to those lengths. Cheaper isn’t always better.

Save yourself some grief. Send it to Lars. Mine was gone less than 2 weeks.

Excellent place.....very knowledgeable......
But even Allstate is only as good as the core you give them.......unmolested cores are out there and pick them up all the time......
I got another Edelbrock 1904 Q-Jet for $75 on FB marketplace.....just gotta search.
Lars knows more about Q-Jets than maybe two other people on the planet...another being Cliff Ruggles.....
