Default What is this wire?

I was changing the headlights on my car and came across this wire dangling behind the light bucket. Not sure where it goes. All the marker lights are on so it doesn’t seem like that’s what it is.

Hello PSU1985. Perhaps it connects to the "headlight ajar" switch. My 69 has two of the switches that light up the little light in the center console when headlights are opening and goes off when they are fully open. Looks like the other part of the switch has broken off and might still be attached on the headlight linkage and has two wires dangling.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll crawl under the car this week and take a look. It’s 75 today so we’re cruising today. Been a long winter. Replaced the headlights this morning waiting for the last shower to clear out.

It's what's left of the headlight warning switch

There is a plug hanging on the right side of my car outboard of the headlight.
It's probably the same switch on mine, thanks.

The "bolt" that holds them on is plastic and it's only attached to the body of the switch by 1/2 the diameter so really, really easy to break off, especially if you're reaching up in there to move the headlights manually or anything. Luckily when they break they keep the warning light from turning on and not the other way around
