I'm not a fan of the stock battery box in the C3. I understand why they put it where it goes but it is a pain to connect the cables to the side posts. There isn't much room in there to get the bolts started.
I'd like to replace my cables with longer ones with eye loop connectors on the ends. I have studs that go into the battery and I'd like to wire in a kill switch too. Does anyone know what gauge the stock cables are? I'd like to go a little oversize for reduced resistance.
My car doesn't have any mounting hardware either. The battery just sits in the box. I guess there is supposed to be a couple hold down brackets so I'll have to figure out best place to get them. Or just custom make something.
If you have three rear compart set-up, you can "Hide" a shut-off, (kill switch, anti-theft switch) in the middle compartment, left side wall.
You can use a short cable , maybe a foot long from Batt to shut off switch. Then use your long cable right back out of the middle compartment to the battery compartment and down through the floor. Just drill two small holes in the compartment partition. The switch will be hidden from view.

Here is the switch I have on my car between the rear compartments. Taylor Cable Master Disconnect.
Summit Racing part # TAY-1032 $40
Amazon has it for $37.
Heavy Duty, two post, all metal, simple On / Off emergency switch. Good for 180 continuous AMPS.
I would recommend a piece of two inch square sheet metal to mount the switch. The partition between the rear compartments are rather thin.

while you are there, change the neg cable that goes straight down and bolts to the frame under the batt box.. all kinds of diff metal electrolysis going on at that connection point and every electron that car ever used went through there. corroded as hell even if it never saw a drop of rain. the oe cable is 80 bucks cuz it has a fat grommet on it. wrap some tape or something on a regular hunk of 12 buck wire...
