Man, what happened to the Corvette custom car scene?
it looks like it used to be really hot in thru the 70s and just died in the late 90's.
I totally missed out, now its mostly just ncrs type builds and stock looking resto-mod/track cars.

People started to appreciate the value of stock and the collectibility, customs can be so cool but can also go very wrong! They are a love ❤️ them or hate them type thing, they require the same attention to detail and $$$ that all restorations do, but getting back to collectibility, you have limited your potential buyers.
I am a huge fan and a product of the 70’s show car scene, I saw Corvette Summer in the theatre, watched John Milner’s 32 racing that BAD 55, such a great time with fond memories. I had a couple of Shaggon Wagons, but nothing was a bigger draw to me than a flared out Corvette with big meats and yes as impractical as it is, a big O’l blower sticking out of the hood!
Everything has its time, this was ours and it lives in our minds, and for some the 70’s are alive and well and living in our garages … guilty as charged!!!

This really does seem to be a “to each his own” scenario. In looking through the magazine articles provided (and much appreciated, too), I rarely find a modified Corvette that I think is as attractive as stock.

It keeps the Foose’s and Kindigs of the world busy, stock looking with minor updates to appearance and full on resto underneath. And I agree, to each there own … I’ll bet there is at least one member out there that just loves that Hornet AMX!

X2!!!
It's a shame more people dont build custom Vettes anymore. To me they're so much more interesting and cool!
What do they say, anyone can restore one but it takes a special idiot (myself included) to cut one up! Are you still piecing yours together?

Yeah it's coming together slowly. I've actually gathered a ton of parts for it, so I'll be jumping back on it soon. Planning on big progress this spring!
