Recently installed a Blueprint Engines 383, after going through the initial procedures prior to starting it.
Upon starting the engine everything appeared to be normal at idle speeds around 500 rpm, however when elevating the rpm to over ~1500 a white smoke would begin to puff from the exhaust.
Is this something I should be concerned about or is this expected for breaking in a new engine?
After letting it sit and starting it back up and ramping up to 2k rpm the right side began to smoke while the left side had no smoking. However I did not let it run long after I noticed the smoke on the right side, 15 seconds maybe
Was previous engine burning oil? May be oil in the exhaust that is burning, and no problem with your new engine.. Happened on my 72 pickup during engine braeakin with the 327 I put in
Pull plugs and inspect.....borrow a coolant pressure tester and pump the system......
If these both check out.....put it together and run the hell out of it....
White smoke can also form from automatic transmission fluid, but if it’s only smoking on one side I would guess a head gasket or a intake gasket. Good luck
The previous engine did have a piston failure on the right side which could be the reason it’s smoking. And there may have been a slight amount of water in the mufflers from sitting out.
