Respray, Clearcoat Crack
I know that I may get some different opinions on this, but what I am really looking for is it something that should not happen, or is it something that may happen.
I had my car sprayed, not a full paint, just a respray, by a very reputable company in my area.
It has been about a month and I see two small areas that have a crack in the clear, about 1" long.
The first may be my fault, I was working on that side of the car and leaning over on the fender and that is where I see the crack.
The second is a fine crack in the clear, about 1" long, on the nose.
Any insight would be very much appreciated.
Thank you,
Eric
OR was it replaced with a urethane NOS piece or something else ?
If it is urethane was the bumper stripped? Primed with spies hecker flex primer and then flex agent in the clear?
The more paint on a flexible bumper the more likely it is to crack if it is flexed.
As an aside I have painted corvettes which people did not want taken down to bare fiberglass. In those cases I have stated on paper at the outset I would in no way warrant against stress cracks, lifting of paint from layers under what I applied etc etc as I have no idea what lies under the current paint.
