Good afternoon. New to the group. I currently have an anemic 1980 Corvette.
I have a lifelong friends whose father was a junk and car collector. He has a dilapidated 1968 convertable with a hard top as well as the soft top. It’s in horrid shape but has the big block in it with an aftermarket intake and big holly double pumper. He says the tri power setup was in his shed but someone stole it.
It will need every single thing redone on it.
Long story short, he says it was an Astro vette and he not only has the title but Gordon Cooper autographed it after validating serial numbers.
Does anyone have a way to verify this story as being delivered to Jim Rathmans as such?
Also what would be the rough value ( it’s in terrible shape as it’s sat outside for ten years here and when I just looked at it a baby opossum sized rat tried to kick my *** )
FWIW: Contact the National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS) and see if you can obtain a shipping data report for the father's car. https://www.ncrs.org/ If the NCRS has the serial number in their records, the shipping data report will list the original dealer the car was shipped to.
Are you talking about the corvette given to the astronauts. I thought those were 71's
Jim rathman did 1 dollar leases to the astronauts. This one is a 1968 427 convertable. It has the title autographed by Gordon Cooper, the application for transfer of warranty from Jim Rathman Chevrolet Cadillac with Gordon Cooper NASA as former owner and the used retail sales order from Jim Rathman
