Default Windshield interchangeability

I am buying a new long style hood to install on a 69 coupe.
The wiper door will be eliminated. The hood manufacturer says to replace the 69 windshield with a 72 to 82 windshield.
Can anyone tell me if it's a simple swap or are there modifications needed to fit the later windshield into the 69?

There are three different windshields, 68-72, 73-77 & 78-82, but the basic shape of the windshields are all the same, difference is along the bottom edge of the glass, where it meets the cowl. Using a later windshield might require removing the two nylon wiper door stops, but that should be about all. You may also need the small weatherstrip piece that goes between the fender top and the glass, that 73-82's came with.

Another thing to consider is the hood to fender top relationship. 68-72 fender tops are flat to match the wiper door. 73 up hoods curl up at the rear edge to clear the wiper arms, and the fender tops are curved to match the upward curl of the hood. You should check to see if the edges of the hood you're buying taper to meet the 68-72 fenders or if the hood has a stock 73 up rear edge, in which case the fender corners won't align with the fender tops.

Appreciate your information. Have already made the modification to the fender caps to match the profile of the longer hood.
Looks like I'll source a 78-82 windshield and see how things go. Will post how things turn out.

Sorry to highjack the thread, but seeing two different answers on this makes me question something. My 1969 coupe has an aftermarket windshield. My wiper door hits the windshield in the middle, thus preventing it from closing fully. I've wondered if the windshield was perhaps for a later model without the wiper door, but the number (which I don't recall) crossed over to be correct for a 69.

What do the experts think? is there really a difference?

TIA

If you reference the replacement windshields from your local Chevy parts guy, there were three pieces of glass available. Being that one windshield (3911121) was called out for '68-'72, the shape has to be the same. For a deeper look on frame shape, check out the windshield moldings in the section beneath the glass section - all coupes from '68 to '76 have the same sides and upper moldings.

post a pic of the glass and wiper door. just cuz the right number is on the box or the glass doesn't mean it is the right part.
