Oil gauge has started to read 0 pressure at 600 RPM, and about 20 at 2300 RPM, whereas it use to read 15 to 20 at 600 RPM, and about 40 at 2300 RPM. I checked the gauge fuse which appeared OK, but replaced with a new fuse just to be sure, but did not correct the reading. Could the sender be the problem or possibly a ground issue?
No. I say this as I had the same thing happen before along with the tack and power windows not working, and the temp gauge showing too high a reading. This happen after hitting a very rough spot in the road, and the solution was replacing the gauge fuse. As previously stated, replacing the fuse did not solve the problem this time.
Can you verify the engine oil pressure with a mechanical gauge?
If the engine is good replace the sender if you still have low pressure you'll have to check the gauge.
The fuse was good before and it's good now.
I have had the same problem with mine several years ago. Turned out to be bad grounding of the gauge assembly. I recommend checking your electrical circuitry. It fixed my oil pressure problem.
I recently had a new temp gauge installed as the gauge started to read 200 after the engine warmed up whereas it usually runs about 180 in August(in Texas) with the A/C on. I knew this was wrong as I checked the temperature where the radiator hose enters the intake and it was 180. The new gauge shows the same as the old gauge, and it was installed just a few days before the oil gauge started to malfunction. It would seem grounding might be the problem. I will take the car to my mechanic and have him make sure the gauge assembly is grounded. I know this is a gauge problem, but I want to make sure as I plan to take the car on a third 4,000 trip out West this summer. I have sons who live in California and Colorado, and I want to visit Utah National Parks again. My car doesn't set in the garage...I drive it every weekend and sometimes during the week. I belong to a classic car club and we have rod runs in the local area.
