Hi all I have question I am hoping someone can answer. Is there a updated bracket for an alternator?
I have 1970 LT-1 I have a big cam and my belt seems to come off a lot … I got the pulleys lined up but I think that bracket isn’t cutting it and I need more support for the alternator
If you have the correct bracket, there is none better than the stock one for a 1970 small block. If your belt comes off, it is an alignment problem. You could also probably get a deeper groove alternator pulley. I shift at 7000 rpm with no belt flyaway ever. This is what I use.........

Would this set work on mine ? Where did you get this from? Thank you for replying that helps !!!
The bracket shown in C3 Strokers pic was used on 72-82 small blocks. 68-71's didn't use a lower bracket, but instead the alternator lower pivot bolt bolted onto a threaded boss in the top front of the exhaust manifold, and just a brace that ran from the water pump to the alternator lower bolt. You can use the later lower bracket on earlier engines, as long as the head is drilled and threaded for the mounting bolts. If you have stock manifolds, the alternator should be mount quite solidly to it, and you shouldn't need to use the later bracket.
The lower bracket is available from most Corvette vendors for around $125, though you can probably find a good used one for around $50 (I use to have some, I'd have to look to see if I still do). If you do use the 72-82 lower bracket, you'll probably need the later upper support too.

thank you so much … I think I will use the original bracket and make sure the aliment is correct … if I still have problems I will go with the other set up … thanks agrian for your help .. I just know enough to be dangerous and I can use all the help I can get !!

Make sure you have the correct alternator pulley. 70-72 LT-1's used a 3" diameter machined aluminum pulley, that's designed to be used with the LT-1's 15/32" V belt. If you have a common stamped steel pulley, or any pulley other than the 3" diameter aluminum one, it's quite likely that that's what's causing your problem.
