I met a friend for lunch today (car guy friend) and drove my 78 so he could see it. Beautiful day for a quick trip to have lunch! Well... Some ******* hit the front of the Vette in the parking lot and left. Came out to find this. I'm working with a local shop to see if their video system captured anything, but guessing I'll never find the POS that did this and drove away.
So onto my question: Anyone have great experience with a shop in the Ohio area to get something like this repaired? Damage got to the fiberglass fender/front area as well as ripping off the bumper cover (as seen). Not sure what else may be wrong, but looking to get it fixed right and back to looking perfect (like before). I'm happy to take it pretty far away to get repaired right. I can trailer it just about anywhere, but would like to find a shop in Ohio or the surrounding states. I'm going to talk to my insurance company to see if they have recommendations as well, but figured this site was a great place to ask for help. Thanks!!
Restoration Station in Springboro OH
Nothing but Vettes, Jeff's done numerous 1953's if that tells ya anything
Thanks!! I appreciate the info! I'm waiting on the call from my insurance adjuster and will definitely reach out to Jeff to see if this si something they are interested in repairing.
Not sure where in Ohio you are but there is a place in Linesville PA (right on PA/OH border near Pymatuming Lake that does alot of restoration work. Name is Bairs Corvettes. Ive never used them but a good friend of mine that has a 78 pace car thats a NCRS caliber car and they take it there.
Update: Insurance cut me the first check for the repair. It is a very low estimate. I called a local restoration shop and am taking the car there next week (the first nice day we have) for them to do a proper repair appraisal. Talking to them on the phone, they are concerned it will be a total loss due to the fiberglass repair and paint work needed. More to come.
Update #2: I took the car to AutoMotion Design and Fabrication (the local shop that Hagerty recommended) for them to do the repair work. They are comfortable that the repair will not outrun the value of the car and they had some good examples of C3 repair work they have done in the past. No clue on timeframe, but that is OK with me.
Update #3. The car is apparently done, but the shop hasn't submitted the bill to Hagerty yet, so I'm still without my corvette. Lots of other comments/issues, but I'll wait until I have the car back to share. The shop won't release the car until they get payment. (which only happens when the shop actually submits a bill.........) Pretty frustrated on a Friday.
