It's the 70's in Texas today and I am cruising around enjoy my 75 corvette convertible. So I hear this horn sound coming off and on from the rear of the car. Pull over it stops drive again and it starts. With about a 20 minute drive home it is off then for a bit and then it is on again. Believe it to be the car alarm. Get home and look at the left front fender key insert for the alarm and there are no wires hooked up to the key switch. I'm sure there are some wires somewhere that are shorting out the horn alarm. Any suggestions on where to start. I have never looked for the horn alarm but I understand it is in the left rear of the car.
the horn itself is sort of behind the drivers rear wheel well, up above the muffler, in front of the antenna, you can kind of see it here in the background
The relay that controls it is inside the jack compartment, that's probably an easier place to get at, if it's anything like my 72 then there's two relays, one is the main "switch" and the other is the flasher than makes it honk on/off. unplug both should shut it off
Now where's it shorting in the wiring... never good to have a live wire somewhere in the wild
The alarm horn is a real Beiotch to get to. I took out my left brake light and a really long extension thru the back body panel to take the horn off so I could repair / repaint it.
Just a quick update. I believe pulling the relays worked. When I picked up the smaller round relay the horn went off, when I unplugged it the horn stopped. Also the small round relay was warm when I pulled it.
