I really like that technique in the video. The one where they hang the hood first, adjust the latches first thing, by moving the core support forward and backward with some all-thread. Then hang the front clip to the correctly positioned and now-stable core support.

I never would have thought of that! Those guys really know what they are doing.

Yeah, I may try that horizontal rod idea as I progress through this.

The inner fenders were detached from the clip. I spent months making many small repairs plus I removed like 3,000 clips from then as a well as the firewall. I then filled all of the holes. Inner fenders are in high build while I fit everything up. I also had to modify the a-arm openings to clear the Ridetech stuff.

I cleaned up the hinges and latches last night so I will get to work on putting the hood in place this weekend to see where I’m at.

I need to rivet the triangular fiberglass upper surround pieces to the birdcage next. I’ve seen that they were just riveted with sealer between? Is it recommended to also use an epoxy for glass to metal instead?

Thanks.

Been fiddling around and have two basic issues at this point.

1. The fender opening opening width near the firewall is too narrow. The left fender is pulled outward as far as it can go (hits small vertical part of the bonding strip at the rain gutter). It looks like the door to fender alignment will be ok here so even if I’m able to cut the bonding strip to allow more outward adjustment, it will bring the fender out past the door. I suppose I can shim the door out some more….?

2. My long hood is hitting the core support when closed. I have two 1/16” shims under each hinge. I have no shims under the core support. And I have about 3/4” of shims at the header bar to inner fenders.

I probably need to just loosen everything back up start over.

At least it seems like my hood profile matches the fenders pretty nice when it’s lined up close.
