Default Body mount insulation?

One of the last places I expected to see a pile of insulation and mouse turds. At least the mount looked good. Vacuum, Corrossion X hd and Armorall.
Any one know the most likely ‘other end’ of the passage to the hole in the upper right of this pocket?

I'm making a guess that it leads to the enclosed area behind the door pillar...it is covered by an interior trim panel...

Those little ba_____rds can get through a hole the size of a pencil. The bane of classic car owners.

I know yours is a '78, but it might be similar to my '71 and that looks to be the #3 passenger side body mount access.

On my car, the hole on the upper right in your second picture goes into a body cavity of the door jamb where the door ajar plunger switch mounts. That hole and the smaller one opposite it are for the wiring to the switch and both should have rubber grommets to keep the wires from chaffing. The bigger hole allows the switch to be installed from the body mount access area...

In my '71 AIM, this is shown in Section 12, sheets C4 and D8.

I hope this is what you're asking about...

Thanks; 78’s no longer had a switch there, but the description gave me more perspective on where the mice came in. On checking those pockets on my other car I noticed an even larger opening along the bottom rear, it goes to the outside right across from the T-arm bolt. The other car also had little 1/2” thick strips of stiff foam rubber filling in that gap behind the body mount. Now I’m imaging mice parading around the inside of the frame with another nest somewhere deep in there. I should probably check with tube stuck on the end of the shop vac.

Mice nest is my guess, material is the carpet jute backing.
