Default Another Removable Rear Window ?

My understanding is that 1969 removable rear window latches will work in a 1968. I thought I saw it in a thread but, could not find it again.
The latches for the 68 I am working on are MIA..

The 69-72 latches should work in a 68, I think the only difference is the shape of the handle. The 68 handle is square on all four corners, while the two corners closest to the targa bar headliners are rounded on the 69-72 latches, for more clearance around the headliner.

I just went through this as one of my early 69 latches broke and I was unable to find a replacement (MIA!). I ordered two new from Wilcox, but new doesn't fit in the old holes in the enclosure so I had to build an adapter. BTW I sold my one remaining old latch to someone here on the forum. You may be stuck with my solution - good luck.

Yes, that is why I was wondering about 69 latches because that is all there is.

Based on my experience, whatever parts were on the shelf for 68's that would work on a 69, were used until they ran out. For instance, my 69's radio, best I could tell, was really a 68. So maybe some early 69 latches like mine would work, but it's doubtful they would be readily available.

I can't confirm gbvette62's conjecture.

68 Latches have an extended tab in the front for two extra bolts going to the roof. I bought two 69 latches years ago and I drilled out the side rivets and replaced the 68 latch body with the 69 mechanisms.
I am very surprised to see the 68 square latch installed in a 69 body in that last photo. That had to be factory installed using the last 68 latches up. Lou.

It would seem to have been a sturdier design with more attachment points. You can see the holes and clips in my photo. Unclear why they didn't keep it. Ultimately the "throw" broke.

I know that I could not believe how flimsy they are with only the two bolts securing them. Saving money for GM! Lou.
