After six long arduous months of tinkering and through pure determination and will with the support of this community I was finally able to get my 82 running great and passed California SMOG. This community is incredible, thank you all so much for the support.
Most techs have never seen Crossfire Injection before.
I found a local guy who is quite familiar with Crossfire, so I'll be visiting him very soon.
My car idles at between 1300 and 2000 RPM's. It also surges up and down. Of course, the one time I visited the mechanic who knows CFI, the car was at about 800 RPM idle. Figures, right?
I want my Crossfire to idle at 500 to 600 RPM. I definitely have a vacuum leak at the interior A/C switch (which i can hear) and possibly others. After this is all set, it will be onto suspension rebuild!!

I’ve been grateful to this forum too. A ton of help and education working on mine.
The best feeling, 100%. I called, emailed and personally visited over ten SMOG locations in my area and not one would agree to SMOG inspect my 82. They claimed they either didn't have the appropriate equipment, were booked weeks out, or flat out did not want to deal with the potential hassle.
I finally found a guy about an hour north of me (thanks to CorvetteForum) and he has worked on dozens of CFIs over the years.
I feel you, I had a similar situation of "I swear this wasn't working before". Long story short the parking brake was stuck. Called a tow and was able to get it unstuck right as he was starting to back up into my driveway haha.
My car was idling high and used to surge as well, though now idles at exactly 800 RPM. I can't say exactly what did the trick, though I did empty the gas tank (getting rid of some of that old gas), add some Seafoam Fuel Injector Cleaner, Trans Tune and High Mileage Motor Treatment. I also flushed out the old antifreeze and changed the dilution to a 90/10 water to antifreeze dilution, though I live in San Diego where it never goes below 45 degrees.
I definitely need to double check all my vacuum lines, my headlights operate, though are out of sync.
Be sure to post about your suspension rebuild, I may need to copy your homework to save my lower back.
