Default 1969 Corvette c3

Has anyone ran into the problem of the alternator belt keeps coming loose? Tensioner bolt stays in place. Running out of room on the brace. Thanks

Belts don't normally stretch much after initial break in. Perhaps a poor quality belt is to blame here. Try a new belt of a different brand.

Can you post a photo of your engine showing the brace? How long is the brace in a straight line along the side of it?
(As an aside, I have Quanta repro alternator belts for both my cars and they are almost too long to allow tension before maxing out the bolt slots. They've worked fine so far but there's no additional tension possible if they start to squeal.)

I had the same issue. I needed to try a couple belts before I found the right one. It seems that just a half an inch would either allow it to fit or be too short or too long.
I Think I ultimately used a 15525 belt from Dayco that was 52.5 inches long.

While I like my Vette to appear 100% stock, I run a Gates belt on mine. I suspect that the belt from Corvette suppliers that have GM numbers and appear OEM, are probably Chinese junk, I could be wrong. I plan on several long drives this summer and the last thing I need is a broken belt. At least in the old v belt days, belts lasted fairly well and I want that to continue..
