arms disassembled, took to work and hot washed and grit blasted.
as for painting, do any of the "flat faces" between the parts need to be left unpainted for correct assembly?
have seen both painted and unpainted in pics on internet or youtube clips.
1: between the trailing arm and the spindle support?
2: between the spindle support and the caliper bracket?
3: between the caliper bracket and the parking brake flange plate?
thick coat on main areas of arms and then would a thin mist coat to stop rusting be manageable on the flats?
was going to use a chassis black on the parts, maybe a cast grey on spindle support....
When I did mine, 6 - 7 years ago now I think. Hung them up. etch primed them. Shot them with satin black enamel. Painted them inside, (best I could) and out. no issues to this day.
Since you have the capabilities, I would weld the arms better now that you have them apart and blasted. You can powder coat them, but I like to etch, POR15 and topcoat them in black. I keep the mating surfaces free of anything and deburr them.
