Yea 26/25 is low. I like it but my Dad will not. ha

I think 28 ish is what I need to get it to 29 is closer and better than 30 for sure. I also know this car will set a 1/2 inch or 1/4 higher then most as someone replaced all the body mounts with rubber not Aluminum as a 69 should be. Thanks alot for the measurements.,

What is re arching the spring? I know the rear was out of the car so maybe thats what they messed up and why its sitting so high?

In one of the 1968 sales brochures the fender arch of the White Vette looked to be about "3.5 to 4" above the top of the tire!

Someone may be able to explain it better, but my understanding is that they literally re-shape the spring. In my case, they make it more flat, but you can also restore an old, tired spring by putting more arch back into it.

SO if someone took the spring and Diff out, and just bolted it back up... could that have added arch to it, and be part of the problem?

No. If it looks higher after removing and re-installing the spring, it likely just hasn’t settled.

There are two methods used to re-arch leaf springs. The most common is cold pressing which uses a special press to change the arch. This offers a short term solution to the problem as the steel leaf springs have a memory which easily returns them to the height they were before being raised. As such, it is highly advisable not to re-arch using cold setting.

Heat treating involves erasing the spring’s memory by annealing and then re-shaping. Heat treatment is used on each leaf in turn before they are reassembled and re-installed.

The biggest factor is getting the correct arch and spring rate for the cars weight. Ether one will change the cars height along with new lines and bushings also. The Corvettes back then would sit very level front to rear only slightly higher in the rear.

I bought a single leaf from Pull;=a=Part...driled holes for the spring bolts...removed the old flat main leaf from the original spring pack and installed the "new" modifiedmain leaf...the car rides a little softer because I didn
t like the extra-firm feel. Total invested $30 including hardened drill (bit) to drill thru both ends of the leaf.
