I have a question for you guys. I have a 1979 corvette and I am installing new carpet. The rear piece where it meets the door jam, the original had material with a piece of rubber. The new carpet doesn't have this. How do you finish the carpet at the door jamb? Thanks
Could you take some pictures of the area you are talking about? And the carpet too. I just pulled my rear carpet section a few weeks ago to install insulation, I dont remember any rubber being involved
Not certain what bit of the carpet you mean, but the new carpet for my 78 has rubber/metal section covered in a sort of felt material attached to it which fixes it into the door opening, as shown.
Early 79s had the trim like the 78 in the above post. Late 79s did not have the channel that snapped over the jamb, carpet tucked behind the jamb.
I believe you need to reuse the trim piece, gluing your new carpet inside. Or maybe you could tape the carpet in place and slip the channel over it.
