Default Engine/Bay Paint Scheme

I know there have been a few posts talking about color schemes but I can’t seem to find exactly what I was looking for.

I have a 1978 with a 400sbc. I have the engine pulled right now, to replace the crank. I wanted to repaint the engine and engine bay while it’s out. I have read that the original color for the engine would be GM Corporate Blue. I’m not too concerned about the exact shade of blue as long as it’s close. I’m more focused on what parts of the engine gets painted. I have edelbrock heads and intake on it right now. I was gonna leave the heads and valve covers but I wasn’t sure if the intake was originally painted. Also is the oil pan the same color or is it painted black? The engine bay itself, should I leave that or paint it black? My C3 is kind of a cream color paint with a red interior.

Any pictures of what y’all have done would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Thanks! So I’ve seen this a few times, does everyone assemble it and just paint over the bolts? I was going to paint everything bare and then put the bolts in but I’ve never done this so, lol not sure.

Yes, bolts are painted. The pics pretty much speak for themselves. Regards, LowSporty

I really struggle with the black hole of the engine compartment so that’s why I decided to go with grey instead just to maybe reveal some of the firewall details. Good luck!

I've seen engine compartments painted the same as body color on many of the TV car shows and I like the look - but never on a corvette...Why is that?

I was at a Cars and coffee event just this morning. A lime green mid sized car that had big spoilers and fancy graphics was there.
Engine bay, firewall and inside fender walls painted lime green to match. And very shiny paint as well.
Unfortunately that was the feature so to speak.
As his engine, wiring and hoses looked poor in comparison.
Satin black the firewall and inner fenders. Make the engine the feature.
This "Pop's" much more so on any car.

I have heard using black engine paint emits more radiate heat and cools better then other colors.
T/F ? I don't have that document...
Light Beige in the engine compartment???
My 69 340 Swinger looked good with engine compartment painted body color,,,
But hey, there was a lot of non used space in there back then...
