I've been doing some research on tires. The previous owner put 255/60s on it and I like that size just fine. I always liked the BF Goodrich Radial T/A and planned to buy those. Then I found out about the problem with the raised white letters turning brown. Never saw this in person until yesterday. There was a 1976 White Corvette with the buckskin interior with raised brown letter tires. I wrote to Goodrich to see if this was being corrected and was advised in writing that the discoloration was not a flaw. They put something in the tire to protect it from the ravishes of the sun and it can leach through. Goodrich has no plans to change this in the future. Perhaps this is the reason that we see so many Cooper Cobras.

For the record. Mickey Thompson and Cooper Cobras are made in the same factory. Same tire with slightly different tread design. But same carcase and compound.
And yes. Made in Mexico if that matters.
And I've run them for many years. swear by them.

I have ALWAYS been a GY Eagle GT fan every time I replaced my tires for that stock 80s OEM look, but the price for those are stupid crazy high for a S rated tire. I recently went with the Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T 255/60/15 and LOVE them. The ride quality IS much better than the GY tires could ever be, but I did put the white letters to the inside only because MT does not make a white outlined letter tire and didn't like the big bold white letters showing. Anyway, the BFGR letter issue is very long in the tooth anymore and there IS an issue that IS well documented over the years. Buyer beware if you want those tires, each to their own.

Buc, I'm with you on the Eagle GT's. I love the way they look, back in period, my Dad had his '82 Collectors Edition with Goodyear Eagles on it. So, price be damned, my Collectors Edition has Eagle GT's on it too. Was about $1800 for the set, delivered. One of them cant be balanced, it will be replaced under warranty, but the April build schedule, got bumped back to June, which is now scheduled for late August. Twelve months I've been either waiting for tires to be made, or for a replacement tire to be made and shipped to me. Yes, it's a terrible experience so far.....but, I'll hang in there. My car should have Eagle GT's on it.
I just can't go faster than 45mph till I get a new one.....
Good thing I have a few vehicles and a few motorcycles to get around lol@me
I’ll weigh in on the browning BFG issue. I purchased a set 2 years ago and the browning started within a month. I stayed on top of it and have discovered that consistent detailing with Westlys BlechWite it seems to have them getting whiter after each successive use.

After following this issue regarding BFG Radial TA's for over a year, I bought a set of MT Sportsman S/T's a few months ago.
I'm very happy with them, they handle well and look great.
BFG can keep their brown raised white letter tires.

I've been running these for over 20 years on all 3 of my C3's They ride super quiet and handle well.
Haven't been able to find them now for many years.
Would be interested in hearing back on your experience obtaining them. Especially the MFG date.

Yeah, I hear ya on the long wait for tires, it's crazy right now. Here is a perfect example of that... I was running around with my MT ET Street R DRs since they bite really nice when I launch the car hard. Well, I hit something on the street and blew the side wall out on a DR. You would think, no big deal, just order another tire. Yeah, not so much. Nothing really odd about the size and easy to get any other time, but now. I have been waiting since Oct of last year to get that 255x60x15 DR tire replaced. They are not to be found. I'm getting concerned the closer we get to this winter here in AZ which is perfect weather at the track and me, trying out my new tune to see what the car can do. I also got the MT all around and they will match my MT DRs.
