Default CORVETTE letter alignment

Has anyone had an issue with the CORVETTE letters on the tail panel of 68–72 vette’s lining up correctly? I purchased from Trim Parts at roughly $60-70 for the set. If you exact factory reproduction you have to pay up around $150 or so. I have message Trim Parts and provided photographs but they give the typical “pass the buck” response that’s it’s not their product that is the issue and that it’s my factory original panel that has the holes drilled improperly. Do I need to pay up the extra $100+- for the exact replica stuff?

Did you have emblems before you bought these?

Was the car damaged before?

It did have it’s original letters but the O was missing. The panel has no signs of damage or modification.

when i did my 68 the repo letters had a note in the box that said ovaling out the holes in the tail panel was most likely necessary. i installed the letters and said F this. i found a NOS gm set on ebay cheaper then the repops i had and installed they are VERY NICE and straight.

Then I think you have your answer. If you have the original letters, except for the “O”, put a WTB post and I’m sure someone will be able to offer one up. Send the POS letters back to the supplier.

I knew the answer before Trim Parts began dropping excuses, yes but I still want to hear other’s experience. Is this to be expected for paying the extra cash etc… The O was missing but the remaining letters were still old and pitted so they needed replacing anyway.

Forum members Priya and Doorgunner both have discussions in their build threads about the problems they had placing letters and getting them to line up correctly.
There have been several other threads and posts regarding the rear letters, hole patterns and getting everything straight.
I can’t point you to an exact thread because they are all several years old.
Do some searching and you should be able to find what you’re looking for.
Good luck.

thanks for the great help. Turns out sometimes a guy doesn’t want to spend an hour reading through old posts that were even too much for you to link as well. But here we are, hearing another guy jump on the opportunity to tell others to use the search button. It’s a forum bud. That literally means it’s a place to have discussion.

Yeah, I hear ya Torchred, it's supposed to be a discussion forum. I once got so jacked by smart *** replies that I left for a couple years.
And still, once inawhile, if I've had a few to drink, I'll post a smartass crack.
Let's just move on. There are a few cracks once and awhile.
Perhaps thinking it was humorous. But in the long run.
A lot of help on here.
And aftermarket parts are like that. If your willing to spend the time to massage them, custom fit and make them work. Sometimes it can be done. But perfect fit when saving money. ........
Not likely.

He said his original letters needed replacing. Does Trim Parts have two grades of letter sets? They usually have correct parts. Lou.

So I just did a Google search and found a couple of threads that came right up.
That took me all of 30 seconds.
And I just offered you some more help.
But don’t bother to respond, I don’t have the time to bother with you or trying to help you again.
I’m unsubscribed, good luck!
