If your concerned, return those to the spot they are connected in your 'befor' pic. Only, eliminate the support bracket.
I don't believe that's a ' factory ' grounding location, but that really doesn't matter much if it's functioning fine now..

Got the starter in tonight and just left the bracket cables mounted where they were with the old starter and everything is working great. Powermaster 9526 is definitely the one to go with for a 78. No shims or nothing!
