Default Finally fired up

Well, the first time in 4 months heard my car fire up,briefly, but sounds good,my fuel line NPT hooked to Edelbrock carburetor is leaking, and replaced the starter wires, with a new ones, but the solenoid would only kick in half the time, the other times to turn engine had to jump the solenoid with a screw driver, and set the tv cable.and hook all my vacum hoses up.

Well, that’s easy,I have one daughter, she’s 34,the golf isn’t expensive where I’m at.it only cost me $13.00 for 9 holes.or $23.00 for 18,and that’s for a non member. I might splurge on a new driver or putter once every few years,oh,and play cheap ***** like taylormade or Calloway, and if I’m playing in a tournament I only play titlelist pro V.

You have lots of voltage drops in the starter signal wire circuit. If the screwdriver works, you should try to clean up and repair the voltage drops or just add a relay to the circuit.

Everything checks out good, but I did replace that solenoid,so, I’m guessing maybe got a bad one, checked all the wires,to make sure they were tight, and those are new wire harness, which I replaced two months ago,and do remember my old harness had another wire to it,that the new harness didn’t come with,so not sure if that has something to do with it or not,I will have to locate my old wire harness, and maybe someone could tell me what it’s for.

Found the old starter wire harness.the wires are hard but still fairly good.

Here's a better view, my new harness did not have the wire on it with the yellow tape on it. So,anyone know what this wire is for. I dont think it has anything to do with my starting without jumping it with a screwdriver. Im thinking something is not hooked possibly neutral safety swich,or something not hooked up,but hopefully can track it down with the help of my manuals, and of course the experts here.

if jumping the solenoid fires it every time it is not the starter or solenoid. neutral (or clutch) switch ignition switch or adjustment or wiring issue. small wires. not the big ones. and i was joking abt golf and vettes... the wire with yellow tape is larg terminal. either hot stud or ground. most likely hot. and quite possibly added. but it does look like a fusible link on it. which could be popped and the other big terminal wire could have been added.

If my mind serves me correct, the yellow tape wire with the big terminal, I think was screwd in the block or head, for ground, and have to track that little wire as you say.lol....but,I unplugged pretty much everything with the old engine,so, finding which ones that are needed and start splicing some wires.

Yes, the yellow taped wires with the white plastic lugs are the 3 fusable link wires (looks like they are marked 16 gauge) that send power from the battery cable lug on the starter to the whole rest of the car. The single reddish wire with the small terminal is the starter signal wire that attaches to the "S" terminal on the solenoid. The large black terminal is a ground to the bellhousing. It has the black and light blue wires with plug for a temp sender that plugs into the side of the passenger side cylinder head.

Actually the blue and black plug type connector is for the fan,and it runs as soon as you switch key on,so,I unplugged it for now,so,it doesn’t kill my battery.

Well, found one of the wires was loose,so starting every time now,so,I guess try to get some type of timing figured out,I do have a timing light but never have used it,and at this point just need to set it so can get carburetor adjusted.
