Default This is leaking…,
What is the purpose of the screw in the front of the engine and what’s the best way to keep it from leaking?

Its an Oil Pressure Port that nobody uses.
Remove, clean threads, wipe off port, dab of Permatex Black.

Yes, remove pipe plug. Clean and reseal.
