Hello all, kinda a longshot with this question, but have any other 1982 silver green owners been able to find quality touch up paint? Both samples I bought had this dark consistency to it, too dark to match the original. Im also pretty confident that my paint is actually silver green cuz it looks like some of the ones on google images.
First check the tag on the door to see if the paint code says 40. If so I would try www.paintscratch.com I have ordered from them over 30 times and the match was perfect. If that does not match when you get it then consider that some prior owner may have repainted in a slightly different color.
Good Luck finding a shop that will color match your Corvette. They won't even guaranty the match on a 2 year old car. Very few body shops will make any promises on Color. I took my wife's car in the other day and heard it straight from the body shop employee that he could not assure he that the paint will match. You will have to find a body shop with a good painter that has awesome Color vision.
I touched up a light blue Continental with white paint before I learned about color numbers. I was also not aware then that I was color blind. It looked perfect to me but everybody asked me when I was going to finish the job.

If you just have a few tiny nicks in the front, let it go and live with it. Metallic paint is hard to touch up and WILL always be darker than the original paint because of the metallic in the paint and you are brushing it on vs. spraying it and atomizing the paint when laying the metallic out. If it's real bad you will have to do a respray. However, keep in mind on a C3, if you respray the front it will be a complete front clip respray, there is no stopping point on the front of a C3 and is a real bitch to blend without looking like a blend. The hood is the only saving grace, but if you do the rest, you might as well do the hood also. Also, if you do the front clip you might as well do a complete car respray. Get your wallet out and dig deep if you decide to do that. Most shops will charge a lot for a corvette. Do your research and then do it again to find the right shop so you will be happy with the results.
I resprayed my entire 82 in my garage and it looks very good and the paint is very flat after color sanding and buffing. I did it about 8 years ago and even back then, PPG paint cost me $525 gallon and the clear was $325 gallon. The cost is even higher when you get everything you need to do the job right. I even bought another gun to spray the 82, even though I already had six other guns. I wanted a really nice gun to spray it right the first time, but the painter skills do help a lot as well. I'm sure that the price is even much higher today. GL
