Default It’s always something

In April my 72 didn’t seem to run right so I replaced the cap, rotor and wires. I had a Holley carb on it and I replaced it with the spreadbore so I thought I’d start new. Interesting the number 4 plug looked suspect so I’m glad I did. When you had the car for 34 years you know how it feels and something was just not right.

last night I decided to check the timing and it was ok. For some reason I had the upper shielding off and a thought came to me to make sure all plugs were firing. I used my timing light on each wire coming out of the distributor and number 4 was not firing. Expecting the worse I pulled 4 and it looked new but was wet but not gas fouled either. Like a new plug dipped in gas. Anyway I got my multi meter and checked the plug wire and nothing, it was just like it wasn’t hooked to anything. I checked the number one wire and it showed a ohm value. Apparently I got a bad wire in the new set. They were AC Delco. Got a new set coming.

I guess I’d didn’t feel the miss is due to the lope of the day,. It’s up on jack stands waiting for the wires. Oh well.

Having a car for a lonnnnnnnnng time can work both ways:

You know when a component is going bad at a fairly rapid pace, and you can find the problem faster.

BUT......

When your car slowwwwwwly develops a problem.....it kinda' sneaks upon you.....kinda' similar to our waistline

Speak for yourself Doorgunner. I'm well and truly in my 60's and I wear the same size jeans I did in high school.
And yes, as a fellow long time owner, we Know, not sneaking up. We know when she is not right!

He did speak for himself. We should all stick to our guns and remain individuals!

Well, he did say, our waistlines.
So, .....
Not really certain if I took that the wrong way.
And back on track.
Yup, it does seem like one thing after another with these old cars. But it's part of the fun.

Generally that’s true, but I’ve broke even on every boat I owned. I don’t buy high end boats. Just the basic used 18-20 footer’s, nothing fancy.
