Default Valve Covers

I have a stock 350/270 with the original aluminum valve covers. I am changing out the gaskets with the blue1628 felpro gasket which need a longer bolt. Currently I don't have bolt reinforcements should I be using them?

I prefer to use them to help spread the fastener load across a wider area. Longer bolts aren’t always available in the correct length for this application. Check to make sure your bolts don’t bottom out in the hole before actually compressing the gasket sufficiently to achieve the desired seal. If they’re too long then just grind the ends until you get the correct length for each hole.

The aluminum valve covers used a longer bolt. As your base motor came with stamped steel covers with shorter bolts. The valve cover washers were used on stamped steel cover only. Bolts for the aluminum covers were approx 1/4"- 20 x 1"

Thanks Yes I don't need them. I figured it out all I needed was a 1 1/4 which was a little longer than the original;.

Actually anyone have any ideas about how to remove the passenger valve cover '71 with A/C. A/C compressor on one side and the fuel line to the Carburetor is in the way. Also the advance on the carburetor is in the way that doesn't come off the carb.

Original fuel line should not be in the way. Compressor needs the belt to be removed and pulled back to allow the valve cover to be removed.

How many different bolts need to be loosened to remove belt?
